Bio
Although her first production was linked to poetry, her current work oscillates between poetry and album books, and has also ventured into the informative book realm. Her first children’s book, ‘Don Antonio and the albatros’, was co-authored with the poet José Watanabe.
She has received various awards for her work. With ‘You better, mastodon!’ she won the illustrated album contest “A la orilla del viento” organized by the Economic Culture Fund (Fondo de Cultura Económica). Three of her books – Good Night, Martina, Breakfast and Inside a Zebra – are part of the White Ravens catalogue. Inside a Zebra also received an honorable mention in the Talking Pictures Award granted by the New York Rights Fair. She has received as well the Cuatrogatos Foundation Award and the UNESCO Rio Catedra de Leitura Award for ‘Where is Thomas?’, book that was selected among the 30 best published books in Brazil in 2019.
On October 2019, she won the Hispano-American Children’s Poetry Prize for her book ‘The sea’. She has recently published ‘A song I don’t Know’, illustrated by Juan Palomino and ‘Sheep count flowers’, illustrated by Amanda Mijangos.
In 2022 her book Cristina plays was included in rhe Highly Recommended Books (Fundalectura) and won the prize The Best (Banco del Libro). Two of her books, A song I know not and Sister and Brother are included in the IBBY Honour List. A Sleepless Night was included in the Top Ten Best Books in Spanish by the Public Library of New York.
Her work has been translated in Korean, Japanese, English, Portuguese and French.
She has studied Philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú) and has a Master’s degree in children’s literature and books from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Universidad Autónoma de Barce
